Why should I have my tyres replaced?
To ensure efficient handling, braking and overall performance of the car you must get your tyres checked and replaced regularly. It’s a legal requirement now that your tread depth is no less than 1.6mm. Police can carry out spot checks on major roads: you run the risk of a fine and up to 3 points on your license. Tyres are the only contact with the roads, so really isn't something that you can neglect. The traction on them helps you to grip to the road so you need to keep an eye on this.
The UK legal limit for the depth of the tyre tread limit is 1.6mm. However, we would usually advise replacing your tyres with a tread between 2mm and 3mm to avoid your tyres slipping under the legal limit without you noticing.
What do I do if I get a puncture?
